Pier structure – temporary support
Several of the cross members at the end of the pier that support the pier deck are quite corroded. This corrosion was found during the most recent survey commissioned by HPHA. (link)
Although not endangering the pier structure, HPHA decided to provide temporary support to this area, whilst the fundraising for a major restoration project continues.
Scaffold ladders have been installed to support the structure. Also as a further preventative measure, we have installed Arris fencing on the pier, to ensure the area is not affected by weight from an unusually large crowd gathering there.
