Track restoration project phase 1 – Platform rebuild
The overall project as replaced the first 45 metres of track to ensure continuing safe operation of the train and to ensure the train is not damaged. During the main project the old wooden platform was removed. This project will replace the platform with a taller one that will ease accessibility.
We are taking a more sustainable approach with regard to the wood than simple replacement. We are using British Douglas Fir for the parts that do not require significant structural strength. This is the majority of the wood. The remainder we will use Ekki an african hardwood which is immensely strong with a very long life.
